My Gen X Playlist: (What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace Love and Understanding – Elvis Costello and the Attractions

I watch the news every evening and, quite frankly, it can be pretty depressing sometimes. It seems like respect and civility have gone out the window. I’m fine with differing views, in fact, that’s what makes this country great. I wish that differing views led to open discussions rather than threats and violence.

This prompt reminded me of Elvis Costello’s (What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace Love and Understanding. Although released in 1979, the message still rings true today. We could use a little more harmony in this world right now.

With its simple message of unity and love in a troubled world, the song became an anthem for peace and tolerance
