My Gen X Playlist: The Ghost in You – The Psychedelic Furs

I love YouTube. There is so much great content out there. I’ve relied on it to help fix my washer dryer, figure out how to use electronics and seal the grout in my shower. It’s been a life saver. I’ve re-watched favorite sporting moments, got up to date world news and researched easy recipes for the novice in the kitchen. I’ve also discovered interesting random content that led me down a few YouTube rabbit holes. Have you ever watched cat and dog best friend videos? Very addicting. Flash mobs? So fun and entertaining. Pandas eating bamboo? Unexpectedly relaxing. Who would have thought that could be a thing.

My most recent rabbit hole has been Tyler Henry videos. Tyler Henry is a psychic medium who meets with celebrities and connects them with spirits of loved ones who have passed. I tend to be a skeptic of psychics, but the specific information he shares is uncanny and the messages he relays provides comfort and closure. This is my recent curiosity. While I don’t have any plans to visit a psychic, if Tyler Henry came knocking on my door, I think I’d welcome him in.

This morning’s prompt made me think of one of my favorite 80s songs – The Ghost in You. To me, this song epitomized music of the time. As I was preparing the link to the music video, a few of the YouTube comments caught my eye and resonated with me.

This is not a song… it is a time machine. It is a window back to an incredible era that I was so fortunate to be a part of

This song gives me a feeling I can’t quite categorize. It’s part elation, part wonder, part adoration with an underlying hint of longing, sadness and nostalgia. God….The 80s.

I couldn’t agree more. It brings back this indescribable sentiment of the 80s. Nostalgia is such a wonderful feeling and it’s tugging on me this Saturday morning. I think I’ll sit awhile and savor every moment of it.
