There are a few presidential libraries nearby that I’ve yet to visit. The Reagan and Nixon libraries are both within an hours drive and I’ve been meaning to visit them. I really want to see Air Force One at the Reagan Library. That sounds pretty interesting. I learned a friend’s father was the test pilot on the original Air Force One. That blew me away. He has a few footprints in of our nation’s history. That’s so cool.
In 1995, The Presidents of the United States released Lump. Who knew I’d have a brain tumor connection to the song.
Composer Chris Ballew said that the lyrics combined his own history of having a benign tumor in the head with a vision he had of a woman in a swamp.

Fortunately, I didn’t have any strange visions. In fact my benign tumor was pretty silent and was discovered accidentally. Woman in a swamp? Odd, but still a good song.

Lump sat alone in a boggy marsh
Totally emotionless except for her heart
Mud flowed up into lump's pajamas
She totally confused all the passing piranhas
She's lump, she's lump
She's in my head
She's lump, she's lump, she's lump
She might be dead
Lump lingered last in line for brains
And the one she got was sorta rotten and insane
Small things so sad that birds could land
Is lump fast asleep or rockin' out with the band?
She's lump, she's lump
She's in my head
She's lump, she's lump, she's lump
She might be dead
Lump was limp and lonely and needed a shove
Lump slipped on a kiss and tumbled into love
She spent her twenties between the sheets
Life limped along at sub-sonic speeds
She's lump, she's lump
She's in my head
She's lump, she's lump, she's lump
She might be dead
Is this lump outta my head?
I think so
Is this lump outta my head?
I think so
Is this lump outta my head?
I think so
Is this lump outta my head?
I’ve been to the Reagan library. Beautiful grounds and AF1 was interesting to walk through and learn about!

Thanks! It’s been something I’ve been meaning to see but just haven’t gotten around to it yet.

Thank goodness yours was benign. I just listened to the actor Mark Ruffalo on Smartless (podcast). He told a crazy story about how he dreamt he had a brain tumor, doctors humored him and gave him an MRI, and turned out to be true! His was benign too, but he lost hearing on one side.

Wow, that’s pretty interesting. Good thing the docs listened to him. I’m now curious about the connections to dreams/visions. Interesting.
I just rewatched a Ruffalo movie called Begin Again. I watch it every now and again. Not a bad movie if you have time.

If you don’t mind my asking, how was your brain tumor discovered? A friend of mine also had a brain tumor that caused chronic migraines. I also suffer from chronic migraines, but they are gradually improving. Sometimes I wonder if I may have a brain tumor.
On another note, I also enjoy the movie Begin Again with Mark Ruffalo!

One day out of the blue, I had double vision. They couldn’t figure it out why and ordered an mri where they discovered the tumor. The strange thing was, the brain tumor didn’t cause the double vision and that quickly went away. It was because of that fluke symptom that I got tested and it was discovered. The surgery was voluntary but recommended and I had surgery to remove it. I go for routine check ups and everything is A-OK.
I hope your migraines subside. I hear those can be difficult to endure.

I am so glad that it was discovered, removed and benign. When you hear the phrase “brain tumor” it incites fear. Also happy that you are doing well. 😁

Yeah, I freaked out when I first heard it. It’s kind of a shock to your system. Brain surgery isn’t a calm kind of thing. Fortunately, I have a few doctors in the family and it was great discussing it with them. I still can’t believe I went through it!
