There was a knock on my office door. My colleague in the next office over came by after I’d finished my call.
Hey, man. I could hear you through the wall. It sounded a little heated. You really fight for your clients.
I had to fess up. I actually wasn’t negotiating on behalf of my client. I was buying a new car and the dealership was being sketchy for the fifth and final time. I had enough of their shady attempts. Needless to say, I eventually bought the car from them, but it was a painful process. I bring this up only because last night we were discussing probably needing a new car next year and it triggered my last experience. I wish it wasn’t such a painful ordeal.
I think buying a car is one of the most unpleasant purchases. Fortunately, we take good care of our cars and drive them a long time. I’d hate to go through this on a regular basis. I’m tempted to just use the Costco agreed upon price. But then again, I know I can’t can get a better deal – but I wonder if that extra bit of savings is worth it. If not, then this is unnecessary self-inflicted pain. What would you do?
We are considering a hybrid. We still have a little bit of anxiety about being stranded in the middle of nowhere with an EV. Mind you, this anxiety is totally unwarranted because we rarely find ourselves in the middle of nowhere. Baby steps, I say. One step at a time. Hybrid first, maybe with an electric car next in line.
Electricity was the debut single by OMD. I was shocked to learn this was released in 1979 and was written when they were only 16 years old. At that age, I was practicing parallel parking and standing in line hoping to pass my driver’s test. Let’s see. Hit song in one hand or a drivers’s license in the other. We know who the slow one is between the two. Oh, and not to add fuel to the fire, but it took me two tries to pass my driver’s test. Sad, but true.

We’ve had good luck with our Camry Hybrid. 262,000 miles and a bit so far. I’d like to get an electric car next but we probably won’t because of our plans to travel around the country.
It is hard to believe that song was written by people my age in the 70s. I wasn’t as aware of the world back then. I don’t remember what I thought about other than leaving my parent’s home.

You and me both. Some people amaze me.
I’ve never driven a car past 200K before. My car is not too far off, but with working from home, I may never reach it. Congrats on getting a great car. That’s always a good feeling.

Interesting line about solar being the “final” source of electricity. I agree, they sound mature for their age.
Does anyone like buying cars? At least they don’t ask men if they’d like to come back with their husbands to help make the final decision.

OMG. When my wife was buying a car, the salesman kept talking directly to me. I told him I’m not the one buying the car, don’t talk to me. Of course he didn’t listen. We were both offended. He literally lost the sale based upon being a dumb ass.

Car dealerships are the worst for blatant sexism! My mother and I have both walked out of them and ended-up buying different makes of cars.

We did the same. It’s ridiculous.
My friend was VP of sales. The dealer was condescending and asked her if she could really afford the car on her own. I’m surprised she didn’t knock his block off. It’s hard to believe these attitudes still exist today.

I drove a friend’s Prius. It was easy to drive and I was surprised how roomy it was. I even had enough head room. It’s a great ride.

Right? Don’t sleep on the Prius being an option. It’s so underrated.
