We saw Hamilton last week. People gave us a heads up that it may be difficult to pick up the lyrics and follow the dialogue the first time around. They were right. While we couldn’t understand each verse, we were able to follow the story line. I think it’s good excuse to see it one more time. And for those who have seen it, I thought King George stole the show. What a performance.
I have no idea of whether he’s the antagonist or the comic relief, either way i love him

King George is the best part of Hamilton. You can’t change my mind.

When I thought about kings, Kings of the Wild Frontier by Adam and the Ants came to mind. Not only for the title, but the unique fashion Adam Ant used to wear. His garb was part revolution (not quite sure which one), part pirate and part WTF. They definitely caused a scene when they emerged in the early 80’s. I remember playing their first album over and over. My parents were not amused.
Kings of the Wild Frontier sent me down an Adam and the Ants rabbit hole. And while I like the song, Stand and Deliver is another Ant song that I like more. I know it’s not everybody’s cup of tea, but it’s fun and nostalgic for me. Adam Ant’s persona was perfect for the emerging MTV generation.

I'm the dandy highwayman
Whom you're too scared to mention
I spend my cash
On looking flash
And grabbing your attention
The devil take your stereo
And your record collection
The way you look, you'll qualify
For next year's old age pension!
Stand and deliver
Your money or your life
Hoh!
Try to use a mirror
Not a bullet or a knife
Hoh!
I'm the dandy highwayman
So sick of easy fashion
The clumsy boots, peekaboo roots
That people think so dashing
So what's the point of robbery
When nothing is worth taking?
It's kind of tough to tell a scruff
The big mistake he's making
Stand and deliver
Your money or your life
Hoh!
Try to use a mirror
Not a bullet or a knife
Hoh!
And even though you fool your soul
Your conscience will be mine
All mine
We're the dandy highwaymen
So tired of excuses
Of deep meaning philosophies
Where only showbiz loses
We're the dandy highwaymen
And here's our invitation
Throw your safety overboard
And join our insect nation!
Stand and deliver
Your money or your life
Hoh!
Try to use a mirror
Not a bullet or a knife
Hoh!
Even though you fool your soul
Your conscience will be mine
All mine
Qua qua
Da diddly qua qua
Da diddly qua qua
Da diddly qua qua
Stand and deliver!
Stand and deliver!
Stand and deliver!
Lin Manuel Miranda was divinely inspired with that musical. I stand in awe of someone who can read a book and then create Hamilton.

I agree. I was listening to all the different styles of music and was blown away. Genius.

I love Adam Ant, and the video for this song is one of the most 80s thing I’ve ever seen. ^_^

When I first started the blog, I was answering the daily prompt and tried to tie a song that I liked growing up. There was at least a decade that I stopped listening to music and felt disconnected. It was challenge to write and then after figure out a song from my past. It’s been pretty fun listening to music again, though. My goal was to write everyday for a year. Unfortunately, the daily prompts repeat after a year so I stopped that. Now I try to write when I can. The cool thing is it made me create a Spotify playlist for myself. Thanks for reading and commenting. Much appreciated.

I wondered if you came up with the list first of say all your favorite songs then chose to match life stories to them or you just of a song while writing a post ?

I write the blog first then try to find a song. I had a rule – the song I chose has to be one I heard before and liked. Which made it challenging. Sometimes I’d find a song that I heard for the first time or another that I didn’t care for but fit the blog post, but couldn’t use.
To be honest, it would be a lot easier if I did it the other way around. Choose the song first and then write. I’ve thought about trying that, but there is fun searching and/or researching the backstory of songs during this process. It’s been fun being totally surprised about what I learned. I think I’m going to stick with this way for a while.
Thanks for being curious. I appreciate it.
