It doesn’t matter what time I go to bed, I’m an early riser. I’m usually up around 6 am – this is now imprinted in my DNA. I do enjoy the quiet of the morning before starting my day. Better still, waking up before sunrise on a camping or backpacking trip. Unzipping my tent to be surrounded by the stillness of nature while feeling the brisk morning against my face. The quiet of the mountains is incredibly peaceful and there is nothing like having a cup of coffee watching the orange glow of sunrise. These trips rejuvenate me and I hit the reset button before heading back to a hectic life in the city. When I retire, I’d love to spend more time in the mountains and enjoy the beauty of these early mornings more often.
Norah Jones’ Sunrise is on the playlist today. The sleepy melody is perfect with a cup of coffee on a quiet morning.
The song Sunrise by Norah Jones is a gentle, acoustic ballad that speaks about the cyclical nature of life and the passing of time. The opening lines of the song, “Sunrise, sunrise, looks like morning in your eyes, but the clock’s held 9:15 for hours,” suggest a sense of stagnation or a feeling of being stuck in time. The singer seems to be observing the world around her, seeing the sun rise in someone’s eyes, but also acknowledging that time has passed and the day has already come and gone.

Being stuck in time doesn’t sound too bad right now. Where do I sign up?

Sunrise, sunrise Looks like mornin' in your eyes But the clock's held 9:15 for hours Sunrise, sunrise Couldn't tempt us if it tried 'Cause the afternoon's already come and gone And I said, "Ooh, ooh, ooh." to you. Surprise, surprise Couldn't find it in your eyes But I'm sure it's written all over my face Surprise, surprise Never something I could hide When I see we made it through another day And I said, "Ooh, ooh, ooh." to you. And now the night Will throw its cover down On me again. Ooh, and if I'm right, It's the only way To bring me back. "Ooh, ooh, ooh" to you. "Ooh, ooh, ooh" to you.
I wish I still lived in the mountains. The city is so depressing.

Love the mountains and the sunrise; although, I’m a bit more a of a sunset kind a girl. Maybe because I just like to stay up too late and sleep in. Lol. But I’m always thankful for those days I am in the mountains or at the beach, and the sun rises directly into my room, and the sunbeams nudge me for an early morning coffee chat. Yeah. Coffee, mountains and sunrise. I’ll take that to go, pls. 😉

I hear you about being thankful for the mountains and the beach. I took them for granted growing up because they were both in my backyard. I love both, each evoking a different mood. I wish I was able to sleep in! Glad the sunbeams nudge you for early morning coffee. Sounds perfect.

I hear glamping is pretty cool… believe me, sleeping in a tent is not the most comfortable thing, especially when it’s freezing cold!
