My Gen X Playlist: A Beautiful Day – U2

Having already leapt over the 50 year yard marker, I’m beginning to see there is beauty in simplicity. I decided the other day that I need to slow things down, avoid over complication and choose what to take seriously and what to fall by the wayside. I realize these are conscious decisions and life is not always a series of random events. I just have to choose. Why not choose simplicity? I’d like to say this new found wisdom was inspired from a half century of life, but there are people far younger than me that have already figured this out. I think I may be late to the party. I’m just happy I made it through the door and have some time to mingle and enjoy.

If you asked me about motivation years ago, I’d probably have a list the length of my arm. So much time, so much to do. In turn, so much exhaustion. So the new me is narrowing everything down to one.

It’s not ground breaking or complicated. It may not even be easy, but I’m going to give it a try, even when the sky is falling. And you know what they say – if Bono sings it, it must be gospel. Here’s to beautiful happy days ahead.
