This is a tough one. There are so many health concerns out there that are in need of a cure. If guaranteed, I think I’d choose a cure for Alzheimers or any memory related condition. I know people who have parents that are physically healthy, but no longer have the mental capacity to care for themselves. A cure for Alzheimers allows people to sunset with dignity and provides more quality time with loved ones. I think that’s what I’d choose.
Before my father past away, his long term memory was sharp, but he had difficulty remembering yesterday. He managed this pretty well by keeping a calendar, recording everything he did each day that he could always refer back to. I remember him always looking at his calendar. I gradually stopped asking questions about the near term and just enjoyed his company. We were able to laugh about our family vacations from long ago or reminisce about friends and family. When all else failed, we always had sports to watch on TV together. I miss him.
I always assumed that Sarah McLachlan’s I Will Remember You was a romantic love song. It turns out there are a number of different interpretations. Both below are nice, but after today’s prompt, I prefer the latter.
Some consider the song to be a classic breakup song which evokes memories of a love affair that fades away to nothingness. To others, “I Will Remember You” is a heart-rending tribute to a loved one who has passed on.

The song title warms up a few different feelings – reminiscing with my father while he was with us and my memories of him now that he is gone. Both make me smile.
Every once in awhile, a word slips my mind and it’s not even in the vicinity of the tip of my tongue. It used to concern me until friends confided to experiencing the same thing. The brain is a muscle that needs to be exercised they say. I’ve also read that blueberries are good for brain health. I’ll continue with Wordle everyday while happily eating blueberries. There is something to be said about being proactive.

I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
Remember the good times that we had?
I let them slip away from us when things got bad
How clearly I first saw you smilin' in the sun
Wanna feel your warmth upon me, I wanna be the one
I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
I'm so tired but I can't sleep
Standin' on the edge of something much too deep
It's funny how we feel so much but we cannot say a word
We are screaming inside, but we can't be heard
But I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
I'm so afraid to love you, but more afraid to lose
Clinging to a past that doesn't let me choose
Once there was a darkness, deep and endless night
You gave me everything you had, oh you gave me light
And I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
And I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
Weep not for the memories
Now I have this song stuck in my head. 😉

This is a great and incredibly selfless post. All I talked about in mine was becoming a famous author or the starting centerfielder for the Tigers.

Actually, I enjoyed reading your post this morning. No worries. Blogging has just brought up a lot of thoughts of my dad. Maybe that’s a good thing.

I know exactly what you mean. I talk a lot about baseball because that’s what my dad and I did together. It never gets any easier, does it?

I get it about baseball. I started watching baseball again because my dad loved the sport. When we were kids, he used to fill out score card when we went to games. It’s good you have baseball memories with your dad. Not everyone has that. Plus – it’s a cool sport!

The Angels had a terrible year, yet again. I held out a little hope, but we came back, true to form. How about you?
