My Gen X Playlist: Alive – Pearl Jam

  1. Bangin song! The 90s were all about childbirth and childrearing for me. With babies born in 93, 94, 95, and 98, I had all I could do to get through the days! So of course I missed this song but am so glad I found it today!

      1. I didn’t list him, but our baby came along in 2006. He was born with Down syndrome. It took me several years for life to calm down a tiny bit so I could recognize that this kiddo is the greatest gift we have ever received.

  2. Thanks for this wonderful post and reflection on life, and a great rocking tune! I didn’t really get into Pearl Jam but I’d say they’re one of those (many) bands whose songs I seem to be getting introduced to or finding on my own all these years later.

And I’m totally with you on your response to the prompt! My sweety and I didn’t get as many beach days this year as in the past, but we did get to the mountains of Colorado visiting Boulder and Eldora, and loved our hikes there with a dear friend. I even went back on my own again later in the summer to camp!

      1. Oh, it was incredible. A private conservancy in a canyon near Estes Park that I’d heard so much about over the years, and it didn’t disappoint. My first time camping in the rough in over 30 years! Truly memorable.

    1. I’ve been thinking how nice it would be to have a cabin in the mountains. Spend time there part time, especially during retirement. Back to Southern California beaches for summer. Everything is so close. We’ll see.
