When we had our puppy, I would say to her everyday: PLEASE don’t eat your poop. Man, you’d think this didn’t need to be said out loud. It became an everyday ritual.
We researched all kinds of remedies. Feed the puppy pumpkin. Apparently it makes poop taste bad. Nope. Add a dash of tabasco on the poop and let the puppy taste a surprise. Surprised, yes. Undeterred, no. We fed her supplements that were guaranteed to stop her poop eating habits. You know the saying. Nothing in life is guaranteed.
The only thing that worked was immediately scooping her up before she could enjoy her snack. Crazy. Please don’t eat your poop, little puppy. I suppose it could have been worse. At least we had to say this to our puppy instead of my little nephew. I’m trying to find a silver lining.
It’s safe to say that there are probably not any songs about eating poop. I looked, but came up empty handed. Here is a one of my favorites instead.
The Fine Young Cannibals released a cover of Elvis’ Suspicious Minds in 1986. This is such a cool song. It seems I learned about Elvis’ music through cover songs in the 80’s and 90’s.
In 1986, the Fine Young Cannibals released a cover featuring backing vocals by Jimmy Somerville, reaching number 8 in the UK. Singer Roland Gift said that Elvis had come to him in a dream and told him he would record the greatest ever version of ‘Suspicious Minds’.

It’s debatable if this is the greatest version ever because the original version is pretty damn good, too. But I grew up listening to the FYC’s version so I’ll always think of them when I think if this song.

We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much baby
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?
We can't go on together
With suspicious minds
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds
Should an old friend I know
Stop in say hello
Would I still see suspicion in your eye?
Here you go again
Asking where I've been
You can see the tears I cry
We can't go on together
With suspicious minds
And be can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds
Oh let our love survive
I dry the tears your cryin'
Don't let this good thing die
You know I've never lied to you
No no nooo
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much baby
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?
We can't go on together
With suspicious minds
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds
Caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much baby
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?
Caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much baby
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?
Oh no! Your puppy sounds like my kids. Thankfully they didn’t eat their poop. 😂🤦🏻♀️

That’s too funny! Reminds me of the children’s book, Everybody Poops…But not everyone eats it! 😂
