I was thinking about this question and Orange Julius came to mind. Then I paused. Was that the same thing as an Orange Bang? I’ve had both growing up and I used the two names synonymously. I did a few quick searches and couldn’t find the difference between the two. Just curious, does anybody know? Speaking of orange, I think I loved Orange Push Ups even more. Damn those were good. I hated when I pushed it high enough to get to the plastic disc. That always meant I was done.
Matchbox Twenty released Push in 1996. It was inspired by a high school break up.
Thomas wrote this about a high school girlfriend who vengefully broke up with him by giving his clothes to charity. Thomas didn’t have money to buy new clothes, so local bands helped him out by giving him T-shirts and other items. Over the next few months, he wore a lot of band T-shirts.
Even though I loved Orange Push Ups more, this doesn’t mean I’m breaking up with you Orange Julius or Orange Bang. Can’t we all just be friends?

She said, I don't know if I've ever been good enough
I'm a little bit rusty, and I think my head is caving in
And I don't know if I've ever been really loved
By a hand that's touched me, and I feel like something's gonna give
And I'm a little bit angry
Well, this ain't over
No, not here, not while I still need you around
You don't owe me, we might change, yeah
Yeah, we just might feel good
I wanna push you around
Well I will, well I will
I wanna push you down
Well I will, well I will
I wanna take you for granted
Well, I wanna take you for granted, yeah
Yeah, well I will
I will
She said, I don't know why you ever would lie to me
Like I'm a little untrusting when I think that the truth is gonna hurt ya
And I don't know why you couldn't just stay with me
You couldn't stand to be near me when my face don't seem to wanna shine
'Cause it's a little bit dirty
Oh well, don't just stand there
Say nice things to me
'Cause I've been cheated, I've been wronged
And you, you don't know me, yeah
Well, I can't change, no
Well, I won't do anything at all
I wanna push you around
Well I will, well I will
I wanna push you down
Well I will, well I will
I wanna take you for granted, yeah
I wanna take you for granted, yeah
Yeah, well I will
Oh, but don't bowl me over
Just wait a minute, well it kinda fell apart
Things get so crazy, crazy
Don't rush this, baby
Don't rush this baby, baby
I wanna push you around
Well I will, well I will
I wanna push you down
Well I will, well I will
I wanna take you for granted, yeah, yeah, yeah
I wanna take you, take you
Yeah, well I will, I will, I will, I will, yeah
Well I will, I will, I will, yeah
Push you around and drag you down
I wanna push you around
Yeah, I will
Loved that song!

Good song. I’ve only ever heard of Orange Julius but I don’t believe I’ve ever had it.

I think orange bang is a west coast thing

Orange push-ups were good, but like you said, so final (and sad) when you got to the disk. I don’t think we had orange bang on the east coast, but Orange Julius sounds familiar. I think it was a mall thing here.

Definitely a mall thing. I think you are right about being a west coast drink

I don’t think we had these orange things, but my mom was kind of a health nut, so the main orange thing we had was orange juice. the pulp killed me so bad, but tough beans said mom. drink up! i say all of this with a smile.
i guess i heard this in the barbie movie and since i love ryan gosling i turned his version on and am listening while I’m commenting.
Fun post as always!

Ahhh! Orange Push-ups! I loved those growing up! We used to buy them from the ice cream man traveling through our neighborhood on a summer’s day. I also loved Nutty Buddies or Choco Tacos. Mmmm…great memories!

Oops, I meant Drumstick ice cream cones, but I thought they were called Nutty buddies. My memory must be going, because I just googled it and got a Little Debbie snack cake. That was not what I meant. 🙄

We had Orange Julius at the mall across from the cinema, but I’ve never heard of an orange bang. I remember the push ups, too. And orange creamsicles as well. 🙂

Incredible how one can enjoy something so much and forget it even exists for decades! Push-ups are in that category for me. I don’t even know if I’d like them now, though. Sometimes the memory is even better. 🙂

Yes, I agree. I haven’t had a push up in decades! One of the comments brought up Orange creamsicles… those were so good, too!

We had Orange Julius here in Canada but not Orange Bang, at least not on the prairies. I loved Orange Push Ups… they always seemed hard to find, which made them even better.

I haven’t looked for them since I was a kid. I think I used to get them from the ice cream man, too. Fun eating.

Generally in mixology a Bang! is a drink that contains three different sources of the same flavor, so an Orange Bang! would be a drink with three different orange flavored alcohols, for example, Orange vodka, Cointreau, and Gran Marnier. However, I don’t think you’re talking about alcoholic beverages here, that’s just my specialty as a 30-year bartender.

The ones we had as kids didn’t have alcohol. Too bad… lol. I appreciate the mixology lesson!

I’m on the west coast and never heard of Orange Bang, but I clicked your link and they sure do sound similar to Orange Julius.

I grew up in California and remember having both! I always thought they were one and the same or at least close enough!
