      1. I discovered them in high school in the 80s. There was nothing quite like the Smiths. I wasn’t an angst ridden teenager, but fell in love with the music anyway.

  1. “This topic has The Smiths written all over it” 🤣 so true!! Morrissey as corpse flower is somehow perfect. I think you need to play this song for the flower if you go!

      1. They were dark and self-centered for sure. My husband does not abide The Smiths, but I loved them like you! (My husband uses the line “I would go out tonight but I haven’t got a stitch to wear” when he wants to mock me/them)

      2. Haha… well, I will say, they are not everyone’s cup of tea. I mean, who would write a song about “a double decker bus crashes into us”. Yet, that is one of my favorite songs of all time.

    1. It really fascinating when you think of it. I have that narrow window of the 24 hour bloom. I hope I can see it.

I used to live a few miles from The Huntington Library for years. I wish I’d seen (and smelled) it earlier!

  2. there is a light that never goes out is a timeless song. I too am stuck with meat is murder-it’s so disturbing, but at the same time you can feel the compassion in it. i keep it in my playlist.
