A friend was in town and we met him for dinner. The subject turned to daily stress and how it impacts regular sleep patterns. I mentioned we take magnesium and that seems to calm our brain a bit. Our friend had completely different remedy.
He planted a moringa tree in his backyard. I’d never heard of this tree before. Apparently, the tree has many health benefits. Our friend dehydrates the leaves to make his own tea leaves. A cup of tea in the evening calms his thoughts and gives him a more peaceful night’s sleep. What a unique idea. I forgot to ask him how it tastes. I trust he would have said something if it was god awful. But then again, I’d still drink it regardless of taste. Quality sleep is priceless.
Ray Davies of the Kinks wrote I Go To Sleep in 1965 and the Pretenders covered it in 1981.
The Pretenders recorded this when their lead singer Chrissie Hynde was romantically involved with Ray Davies – they had a daughter together and according to various media outlets, they tried to get married in 1982 but were turned away by the registrar because they were arguing too much.
A little bit of an explosive backstory for such a mellow song. I wonder if they ever went back to tie the knot or if they needed more time to sleep on it. Under those circumstances, there is only so much moringa tea can do to help. I’m pretty sure it’s not a miracle worker.

When I look up from my pillow
I dream you are there with me
Though you are far away
I know you'll always be near to me
I go to sleep, sleep
And imagine that you're there with me
I go to sleep, sleep
And imagine that you're there with me
I look around me
And feel you are ever so close to me
Each tear that flows from my eye
Brings back memories of you to me
I go to sleep, sleep
And imagine that you're there with me
I go to sleep, sleep
And imagine that you're there with me
I was wrong, I will cry
I will love you till the day I die
You were all, you alone and no one else
You were meant for me
When morning comes again
I have the loneliness you left me
Each day drags by
Until finally my time descends on me
I go to sleep, sleep
And imagine that you're there with me
I go to sleep, sleep
And imagine that you're there with me
Aww that’s a really nice song!
I also take magnesium, it seems to help me dream less, which is perfect 👍🏼

That’s so cool that your friend planted a Moringa tree. My doctor, a naturopath, recommended moringa tea. I tried it for a while but wasn’t too fond of the taste although not unpleasant, just not my favorite. I love the Pretenders.

I tried magnesium many times and in many forms. ^_^ I’ve never heard of Moringa. Interesting. I’ll have to look it up. I love the Pretenders.

My GenX minister just saw the Pretenders play in Boston. She showed me some video. Chrissie looked and sounded great. The same as ever…at 72! They closed with “Middle of the Road”…not a sleep inducer!

Middle of the Road definitely is not a sleeper! 72 and going strong is impressive!

So clever how you wove this all together. 🙂 A friend started taking a Moringa and Bubinga(?) supplement and is sure it really helps him. Hm. Maybe worth a shot.

It’s available on Amazon and some other grocery stores. I tried it before, and it was not that bad! Maybe because I buy and drink all different organics tea! 🫣

You’re welcome. Let me know what you think about it. I also tried Yogi tea stress relief, it worked and tasted good.
