  1. I think this song describes that faint line between love and hate in a relationship. “There were times when I could have murdered her but you know, I would hate anything to happen to her.” I get it.

As for junk food, yes! I have the same struggle. Especially now during the Fall season. The nostalgia makes me want to bake. UGH! It’s also birthday season in my family. So many birthdays in Sept and Oct. It seems like we always have cake and ice cream on hand. My willpower is not very strong at the moment.

    1. Yes, those lyrics!

Moderation… that’s the key. I try to cut a smaller sliver. When we have too much cake or pie left over, we freeze them in individual slices. This way I don’t go to town with my coffee throughout the day! I try to manage myself!

  2. Nothing like the ole annual physical blood test results to make you choose the side salad instead of side of fries!

That song is peak 80s dark/light vibes to me: yeah, people are dying of aids, addictions and whatnot, but clubs are open so we might as well go dance – and smoke – because fuck it.

  3. i adore cheeseburgers! had one for dinner tonite– though mine was grilled at home and served without a bun. i also made homemade steak fries (organic potato cut into wedges, tossed in olive oil and baked) and had fresh, diced tomatoes tossed in balsamic vinegar/olive oil mix. i like to tell myself this is the healthy version of having a burger and fries!

  4. I hear you about having to try and avoid the foods we enjoyed without guilt or repercussions in our youth. If I could, I would live on pizza, burritos, tacos, cheeseburgers and German chocolate cake. I do still occasionally eat those things, but also eat a lot of salmon, salads, berries, spinach and stir fry’s loaded with fresh vegetables – all of which I thankfully love.

    1. Sounds like we are in the same boat! Thankfully, I enjoy the taste of healthy food as well. So I’m not pained eating foods that are good for me. But there is just something about late night junk food… hell, anytime junk food…

  5. We are all about healthy eating now, especially the hubs, after he was found to be pre-diabetic. Healthy eating does make the difference but we also miss the junk. I love junk, however I’m unable to consume as much as I used to. A few bites and I’m full 😅.

There’s another song, I hate everything about you. Do you recall that. Reading your post reminded me of that song too 😀.

  6. I wish I could eat like I did when I was a kid! Sometimes I sort of do, but mostly way smaller amounts because carbs now make me feel awful. Oh well. Sometimes it’s a little worth it. I’m like the guy in the song, conflicted
Weird lyrics, but I kinda like the song, its the Smiths🤷‍♀️

  7. I played this song so many times I can’t listen to it anymore. I think Morrissey was talking about the times in life when we’re just sitting in limbo-it’s oh so serious but there’s nothing we can do, nothing to do but wait, and there’s glorious sense of freedom that comes with that, when things are just out of your hands. Sort of like in the Beatles Abbey Road medley: “Oh that magic feeling, nowhere to go” . . .
