My Gen X Playlist: A Short Pause

I decided to take a pause from writing. It seemed like the right time. Since I completed the daily prompts, I haven’t felt the pressure to write every day. So the pause really didn’t free up a monumental amount of time. It just felt the timing was right.

What I realized was writing is a good outlet for me. Putting a few words down on paper every so often opens a release valve of everyday pressure. I’m not sure I can pinpoint exactly why. All I’m doing is writing a little nonsense and looking to pair it with a song. But it does.

My pause lasted about a week or so. I’ll gradually step back in. I also have a backlog of blogs to catch up on.

I was thinking about pauses and a clip from Britain’s Got Talent came to mind. It’s Band of Voices audition of Price Tag.

    I know I am at or near the same point that you’ve been at. I know we both been using some prompts from other sites, because we both have run through all of the prompts that WordPress offers.

    And I agree, 100% about blocking almost being therapeutic. It’ll happen when you least expect it to. You’ll be writing about something, and then it just gets you into a very deep train of thought. It doesn’t happen every single time, but when it does, it’s pretty amazing.

    Don’t discount what you do with your blog either. I love the idea of how you take stories from your life and make a correlation between your life and songs of our generation. In fact, whenever I use a song title as a blog title, I feel a little bit like I’m stealing deals from you. 😝

    2. Thanks, Rob. I appreciate the comment. Like many, I go through ruts or not completely satisfied when I hit the publish button. But it is therapeutic, I agree. It was only a week break, but I have to admit, I missed it. Thanks for the encouraging words. I really appreciate it!

  5. I like your content, not just bc of the songs…that always bring up memories, almost all happy… but also bc of your writing style. You have a talent for it, your slice-of-life vignettes, that make for an engaging read. I get it about writing. Glad you’re back 😎👍
