It’s been forever since I’ve been to Disneyland. I was chatting with a colleague who is flying in with his family to spend five days with Mickey Mouse and friends. He said he’s got it all wired. Apparently there are a lot of options these days to make your Disney experience easier. For one, you can buy passes to hop to the front of the line. You book an available time for a ride and cruise by in time to cut your wait time down to size. Man, things have changed.
I remember as a kid standing for an hour in line in the summer heat. We’d have to make up games to pass the time. If I really want to date myself, I even remember having a book of tickets for the rides. An E-ticket was a prized passport for the best rides in the park. No way would this pass muster today.
But I guess everything must evolve and change. Even Disney’s ticket system. And ticket prices? I just looked it up. Whoa! A day at Disney for a family of four ain’t no joke! Then again, I consider it money well spent to give kids a wonderful memory at the happiest place on earth.
When I think of Mickey Mouse, I think about Bow Wow Wow’s Do You Want to Hold Me. Yeah, there’s only a brief mention of the Mouse. But it’s a good trigger to a fun 80’s song and remembering the Mohawked lead singer that I had a slight crush on in high school.

children, i wanna warn ya
‘cos i’ve been to california
where mickey mouse is such a demon
where mickey mouse is as big as a house
life is wasted on illusions
tom and jerry’s no solution
evil gangs will cut the demons
pinocchio is a real boy, look around
and i cry all night
do you wanna hold me, hold me tight?
do you wanna hold me, oh yeah?
do you wanna hold me, hold me there?
children, you got to hand me
you just got to understand me
love and death ain’t no physical thing
‘cos making next ain’t no one of ’em
and i cry all night
do you wanna hold me, hold me tight?
do you wanna hold me, oh yeah?
do you wanna hold me, hold me there?
do you wanna?
and i cry all night
do you wanna hold me, hold me tight?
do you wanna hold me, oh yeah?
do you wanna hold me, hold me there?
and i cry all night
there ain’t no more confusion in the night
there’s someone there to tell me what is right
do you wanna hold me, hold me tight?
and i cry all night
there’s only one solution to this life
there’s someone there to tell me what it’s like
do you wanna hold me, oh yeah?
do you wanna hold me, oh yeah?
do you wanna hold me, hold me there?
do you wanna hold me, oh yeah?
do you wanna hold me, oh yeah?
do you wanna hold me, oh yeah?
do you wanna hold me, hold me there?
Nice post 🙏🎸

I’ve never understood the whole Mickey Mouse/Disneyland thing. Could be my age – I did watch the Mickey Mouse Club in the afternoons and I can’t spell ‘encyclopedia’ unless I sing it (Thank you Jiminy Cricket) but other than that…

I haven’t been to Disneyland in ages. We didn’t have kids or else we would have gone over the years. I have adult friends that still love Disneyland. I’m fine not going – too crowded.

I don’t know that song. Thanks for sharing it. I’ve also never been to Disney land or world. Way too expensive for me. ^_^ I did have fun at local theme parks though.

It is really expensive! I was shocked but then not shocked – inflation. It’s a big nut to crack for just a day there.

It is ridiculously expensive, not to mention the price of food inside the park!!! The surrounding areas are not any cheaper. It’s not like it used to be. Have you been near the area? The entrance to the park is unrecognizable. So much has changed.

I’ve driven around the area and yeah, it’s really changed. The tickets are pretty crazy. It’s a pretty big expense for a single day at the park.

Do you remember that ride called the skytrain (?) These cars on a cable about 50 feet up that took you from Frontierland over to Tomorrowland.
I was there as a kid and there was a huge guy walking ahead of us. Suddenly he puts his hand to his head and looks up… This kid was leering out of his car and obviously he had spit on the guy’s head. The last thing I saw was this huge guy walking determinedly underneath the car… looking up at the car…I was wondered what happened to that kid when his car and the guy arrived at Tomorrowland at the same time 😂

Haha… I do remember that ride. I wonder if it’s still there? My first reaction was gross. But then it dawned on me that the temptation for little boys would be too much. Still, so gross…!

It’s so expensive. Families with more than two kids can’t afford it.
We went twice to Disney world. We made it to two parks only, Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios.
But honestly it’s so ridiculous that we had to buy fast passes on top of the Disney tickets, and the food, etc.
We had a blast after all. At least my kids will have some lasting beautiful memories.

It all adds up! So expensive. Somebody also commented on the price for food! Yikes!

I wasn’t familiar with the song, so I clicked on the link. Interesting video with all kinds of superheroes, pics of food popping up in random places and I think that was Ronald Reagan playing the guitar? Was that real or did I eat some bad mushrooms for lunch? 😂
Love Disney, but I agree it’s way too expensive!

Oh my god I know. You need an advanced degree in “Disney” these days to navigate the parks, minimize wait times, and see all the characters.

It did sound like a lot of work and planning. Probably costs a pretty penny, too!
