My Gen X Playlist: Higher – Creed

  1. Wow, excellent post! I think you put into words what most of America, myself included, are feeling right now! Loved the word choice, “obfuscated” and the imagery of trying to ring a Coke bottle! Well-written.
Also, love the song choice! I love the angsty themes and raspy voice of Creed.

  2. Yes very excellent post!! I don’t even live in the US but thank you for saying what so many are thinking and unable to put into words! It’s all just insanity what he’s doing and I can’t believe it is allowed to continue 😤🤯

  3. His declining mental health aside, the president’s big problem is the fact that for decades, he has surrounded himself with glad-handed yes man who will tell him that everything he says is true. This seems to have warped his sense of reality.

Now he’s kicking the proverbial can down the road. “When this is over, gas prices will be better”.

People aren’t stupid. And eventually even many cult members have their own moment of clarity.

    1. I’m waiting for the cult to wake up, but fear they never will. The whole cult thing unfolding publicly would be interesting only if it was happening elsewhere and not here. On second thought, I wouldn’t wish this on any other country. It’s a nightmare.

  4. Thank you so much for expressing your feelings plainly, and so well. Functioning in this country as though one is not watching it be sold off bit by bit is maddening, and double because so few people are talking about it except to sort of nod in agreement that it’s sad and there’s so much wrong.

    1. Also thanks for the background of that song. I really loved it when it came out and can still feel vividly a moment at night, standing next to a swings ride at the big local youth fair while it played, watching the spinning and feeling big inside.

      1. Aw, thanks for sharing your special moment with this song. It’s so cool how certain songs can send back remembrances to relive. I love that. I remember cranking up the volume and singing along while driving. I loved the guitar and vocals. They’re so good.

  5. Your post doesn’t surprise in the least. The “Trump” effect is being felt all over the world.
I think the majority of people are quite honestly flabbergasted ( I’m being polite) at what he is doing and more importantly being allowed to do.
I think his comment to Keir Starmer about the Iran invasion was quite a good summation. Trump questioned Starmer on why he wasn’t supporting the American troops and challenged him with a comment something like this” You are the Prime Minister of the UK, why aren’t you supporting us, we have always been your ally in times of dispute”.
Starmer (whether you like him or not) came back with “because I’m a Prime Minister, I cannot dictate what we as a country do, I lead a democratic country where decisions are made through consultation”

    1. We are unfortunately stuck with him for a few more years. I never knew one man could do so much damage – at home and abroad. It’s unbearable.

Good for Starmer. I appreciate his words. Plus, the obvious – that we need to respectfully treat our allies as allies. I can’t wait for honor and decency to be restored.
