  1. I’ve noticed myself too, looking for words and as I’m teaching my students about dementia i’m thinking hmmm, is this it? Is it something as sinister like Huntington’s disease, or is it just perimenopause and being nearly 50?!
Really sweet sentiments about your Dad btw 💘

  2. I’m in the same boat, forgetting words all the time. Fortunately, my husband and I usually know what we’re trying to say even without the right word. It’s still frustrating, though.

Love hearing about the time you spent with your Dad. It’s funny how one small thing can trigger a flood of emotions.

  3. What a gem, this song. Hearing about your dad and finding ways to get around inevidible life/mind changes, is honestly quite inspiring. I find myself often trying to measure whether a lapse is a new thing, or a longer thing, or just me. Can make one feel quite vulnerable.

    1. My gosh, I totally can relate. The other day I forgot my old address. I’d lived there for over 10 years. It was a little unnerving. I understand the vulnerable feeling.

  4. It’s interesting the structure your Dad put in place for himself whilst he was still somewhat copus mentis in order to help himself as time went on.
I have a sister who was diagnosed with dissociative amnesia back in 2018 and as her primary dependent I have done similar things for her. I long ago let go of my frustration with the lack of support she got from Social Services, Mental Health etc and created an environment where she is happy and I have more free time which makes me happy.

Enjoy your memories of your Dad, they stay with you forever.

    1. This is the first I’ve heard of that condition and read a little bit about it just now. It must be challenging for her. Your sister is so fortunate to have you help her navigate through this.

And thank you for your kind words. My dad is always with me.
