My Gen X Playlist: Dream – Priscilla Ahn

  1. I agree with all of this! I watched ER and Grey’s Anatomy, and I love any kind of medical show. I also watch The Pitt. I think it’s my favorite of all the medical shows. It seems more authentic and gritty than the others.

Beautiful song choice! I started rewatching Grey’s Anatomy after the actor who played McSteamy (Eric Dane) passed away recently. I had forgotten all the great music the show spotlights!

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed the Pitt as well! I remember GA adding good music… I heard this song from Pandora and not the series. I just thought it was cool adding up and coming artists to their playlist.

  2. I’ve wanted to check out The Pitt, I just haven’t gotten around to it yet. Didn’t I hear something about the showrunners from ER were actually trying to sue them? Arguing that they just blatantly lifted the entire premise of ER.

I didn’t watch all 15 seasons of ER. But I’m familiar with basically all the characters, except for the ones in the later seasons, and most of the major story arcs.

I never got into Grey’s Anatomy. I watched the first episode and I thought to myself that those were the winiest doctors I’ve ever seen in my life. I literally thought the show ended seven years ago and was equally stunned to hear that it’s still on.

But by all accounts, The Pitt sounds pretty cool

    1. I can see why ER is suing. It’s a similar premise, but then again, they can’t own an ER genre.

It’s unbelievable it’s still running, I know. I was pretty surprised. Yes…whiners… your comment made me laugh!

  3. I still say ER is top dog over Grey’s and The Pitt but maybe that’s just because it was the OG and for me, stuck more/better. I fell off of Grey’s after probably 5ish seasons, it just no longer interested me.
This is a pretty little song, reminds me of the songs that the character Amber (played by Mae Whitman) from Parenthood sang on the show.

  4. I avoid medical dramas like the plague – ever since Emergency! (the 1970s TV series) gave me anxiety and nightmares. I’m looking forward to listening to this song on my walk. Thanks!

      1. The guy who played paramedic Roy had a small part in One Battle After Another. It was wild to see him on the screen after so many decades!

  5. Um, Season 2 of The Pitt just aired it’s 12th episode – so just 3 more episodes – (I think it’s 15 episodes per season.). Dr Robby is going a little off the rails with a sabbatical starting right after the current shift. I’m not as taken with the Season 2 as I was with Season 1 – If there is going to be a Season 3 I may not even bother to watch it .

  6. Lovely song. That’s quite something that it came on again for the commenter, and they were moved to go to their grandmother right away. Yes, music is pretty amazing.

  7. I missed watching ER when everyone else did, so I’ve actually been catching up now, sparked by how much I like The Pitt! I’ve heard the last 4 or 5 seasons aren’t great so plan not to hang in that long, but I think I finally understand why everyone thinks George Clooney is the bees knees. 🙂 #latetoparty Like you, I also made it just a few seasons into Grey’s Anatomy.

Such a pretty song. Thank you.

      1. I feel like Clooney in ER has a kind of easy charisma I’ve never really felt in most of his films. Well, maybe Oh Brother, Where Art Thou. 🙂 I imagine his presence if felt in a room.
