If you had a time machine and could send just one message to your past self, what would it say?
Easy. Buy Apple stock at their IPO. Then again, they first joined the stock market in 1980 and I was only 12 years old at the time. But a $292 investment would be worth over a million bucks today. Where do I buy a ticket for that time machine?
I only know a handful of Fiona Apple songs. Not enough to buy one of her CDs back in the day. She released an interesting cover of the Beatles’ Across the Universe. I like the music video as she calmly sings in the midst of chaos. It’s captivating. And one repeated line makes my mind return back to the prompt.

Even if I successfully slipped myself that stock tip to buy Apple, there’s no guarantee I’d walk away with that cool mil today. Changing the future like that may send the universe into a tizzy, just like the chaos in that music video. The universe would probably enjoy pulling the rug out from under me by unleashing some type of counterbalance. Why mess with this in the first place, only to get my hopes dashed against the rocks? I think I’d like to change my answer please to something more meaningful and under my control. Be happy sounds like the better life tip. Achieving that is worth more than its weight in gold.
Yeah, I’d pick that one instead.
