My Gen X Playlist: Start Me Up – The Rolling Stones

  1. I have two sleeves that I started 10 years ago after Bowie died. My left arm is dedicated to him, and the right arm is dedicated to friends/family who have passed. If I was still in FL (and if my tattoo artist was still alive–he died a year and a half ago from pancreatic cancer), I would get the CFNY logo tattooed on my friends/family arm in honor of David Marsden, recently passed away.

As for suggestions–a tattoo is something you have to live with the rest of your life, so it should be something meaningful to you, not suggested by a stranger. Let us know if you decide to dive back in.

  2. I have a Hello Kitty wearing a Totoro costume on my left forearm. I’m too chicken to get another. It hurt! LOL. If I do muster the courage, I want a Kuromi on my right forearm. I don’t have any suggestions, though. It should be something near and dear to your heart.

  3. I love tattoos! I’ve been wanting to get a serpent wraparound tattoo on my right forearm to go with my dragon tattoo on the other arm for the longest time. They are definitely an investment. I have never been a huge fan of the Rolling Stones, as iconic and amazing as they are. I had a best friend in high school who loved them. She also stole the guy I was crushing on, so perhaps she really wasn’t a best friend! LOLOL.

  4. I’ve never had the courage to have a tattoo. My husband has many, all completed before we met (for the 2nd time).
His left sleeve is dedicated to Alphonse Mucha (Alfons Mucha), the famous Czech Art Nouveau painter and decorative artist. I have to be honest and say they are really amazingly accurate and colourful.
The right sleeve is unfinished but is dedicated to his Mum, Dad and older brother who have all died.
Like others I think tattoos are very personal.

  5. I still remember when Start me up came out and the big news was Mick Jagger has just turned 40. My 1st 2 tats were done when my Mom died. Sadly the tattoo artist played a joke on me and instead of strength in Chinese it said little field pig. 🤬

  6. I like tattoos – my husbands family is heavily tattooed – not his generations, aside from him, but his children and his nieces and nephews. My husband got his first and only tattoo when he was in his early 50’s – on a dare when he was in San Diego – the traditional heart with my name on it – isn’t that sweet? My brother challenged me to get a tattoo 50 years ago – when they were still illegal in NYC – I said fine, he was the one who decided not to – years later he is heavily inked and I still haven’t gotten one. There is nothing I want to look at forever – tho at my age forever is not that long.

That video is hilarious – aside from Charlie Watts – the Rolling Stones had to be some of the most physically unattractive human beings I have ever seen – Love their music tho

There are a few versions of Start Me Up reggae style – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ihijtmi64fI
including this one by the Stones – tho it doesn’t sound very reggae to me – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XY8vM_fTXVU

  7. I have none yet, but if I was going to start, I would probably get the Detroit Tigers old English D logo, the quote from the Aneid “fortune favors the bold”.

And then I would probably get the “red fist logo“ that I’ve been using on my blog
