My Gen X Playlist: Creep – Radiohead

  1. Doug has a standing Saturday night thing with a friend of his where they get together online and play video games. I guess that’s today’s equivalent of the poker games of yesteryear. Though I imagine that he would have played DnD rather than poker in his younger days. ^_^

  2. The girls and I would have Sex and the City viewing nights where we’d just hang out and do nothing but eat chips, talk back at whatever Carrie and Samantha and the gang were up to. We also hung out for Mango Margarita Tuesdays after beach volleyball and boy, do I miss those nights. Now, we just “hang out” on FB and catch up with what our kids are up to, and leave the rest to nostalgia. There really is no going back and I guess that’s just part of growing older.

  3. The choir version is kinda creepy, with those young girls singing those words so emotionlessly. Maybe it worked it for the film. Didn’t see it. Hope you get a buddy get together soon. Maybe Superbowl?

  4. Did you see the first comment on the YT video? “This song gives my depression a depression.” LOL. Finally a song I know! I discovered this in 2014 while on a trip to Alaska.

I have a 76yo friend who pretty much lives for poker. I’ve never met anyone like her. Just a fun-loving grandma who can’t get enough of gambling. And I don’t even think she is an addiction — she just loves the game.

  5. What a terrific song. And I really like the choral version, very powerful and contemplative.

I didn’t keep up with my school mates… we grew apart for good pretty much in our 20s, and that’s okay. Going to school together was really all we had in common at a deeper level.

  6. I remember those days of playing cards all night and walkong away with empty pockets, but now I still have empty pockets 45 years later. I still want, to play cards but hands are telling me NOOO, but I have found a way that works, and my hands thank me. Maybe I might end up winning a few hands.

    1. All night poker games are the best. At our super bowl party, we talked about resurrecting them, but it’s difficult to get everyone together. We just settle for our annual Vegas trip instead!
