My Gen X Playlist: I Alone – Live

  1. Oh man, track and field is my jam! I ran the 400 meter dash and 4×4 relay in high school. You’re right, it’s an individual sport…perfect for introverts!

I like how you also identified interpreting song lyrics as an individual sport. More times than I care to admit, I belted out a song in the car and my kids were like, “Mom, that is not what they’re saying.” That’s only what they wish they would’ve said! 😂

    1. Hahaha… keep singing! You do you!

400 meter is a tough race. And relays are always fun. I completed in the jumping events (high, long and triple jump). I grew up playing team sports, so competing in an individual sport was different and fun.

  2. This is damn good! I was never the biggest fan of Live back in the day. Partly because of a girl I really liked, friendzoned me kind grew up and those guys personally. And she would talk about it almost incessantly. Drove me crazy. But this was a fun trip down memory lane, thank you for that. I do appreciate them more now, though.

  3. I don’t like watching track relays either. The handoff is too stressful. What if they drop the baton and ruin it for everyone?! I missed a lot of 90s music. You’re expanding my horizons with this one. Thx

  4. I had totally forgotten about the band until I read this post. Then I started singing the lyrics immediately. It’s so weird, because my ex-boyfriend loved his band and I somehow put them out of my head. Coincidence? 🤔

      1. So strange. He really liked them and I totally blanked on that. I think in memory care facilities they use music to help the patients remember the old times. Something about music is integral to our memories.

  5. This song is new to me; reminds me a lot of the grunge era. My favourite Olympic sport to watch? Road cycling, of course. Good job connecting the prompt to a story and song!
