  1. Wow! I am amazed that you had the confidence to keep going and make up your own language. I think I would have dissolved into tears, if that were me. I guess there is truth in the saying, “Fake it ’til you make it!”

  2. Sounds scary lol!! I can relate because once as a kid in tbe church Christmas Eve service i completely forgot my lines for the Sunday school skit we were performing. Like nothing came out, nothing!

  3. I can’t imagine giving a speech in a different language. I can’t imagine thinking as quickly on my feet as you did. Good on you!

That said, I have always loved this song. It’s particularly fun to sing along with in the car–alone–making up nonsensical lyrics, because really–WTF? 😂

      1. I especially liked the ending when it was just Eddie singing some ooos and that gorgeous guitar. Pearl Jam is really one of the all-time great bands, aren’t they?

  4. I knew you were gonna go there with the lyrics. I have at least three versions of this song, because it’s been one of my favorites for thirty years. Eddie changes the lyrics in every single one. And I don’t care what any of them are. It’s just an amazing song, and Mike McCready’s guitar solos on every version are Hendrix-worthy. That’s why they usually close their concerts with it.
